Today let’s talk about the way to invest in stock market. For investing / trading we need a Demat account to buy or sell equities in stock market.
Okay!, but what’s the demat account?
It’s very similar to our bank account, where we store our cash. But in demat account we store our shares which we buy in the market. Demat account holds shares, mutual funds, bonds, ETF’s . . . etc, in one place.
If one wants to invest in stock market, demat account is the utmost and primary requirement.
Demat accounts came into existence in 1996. Before that transactions are taken by physical receipts known as certificates. Transaction buy/sell used to take by telephone with the help of a stock broker.
Stock brokers provide services to have a Demat account for any individual. There are many different stock brokers available in India. Some of them are Zerodha, upstox, angel broking, ICICI Direct etc.
Zerodha is one of the best stock broker in India as of now. It has won an “Retail Broker ” award from the NSE IN 2018. It provides the best products and services, charges, margin fee. Overall all the factors compared zerodha tops the charts. Can find detailed comparison of Top 10 stock brokers
It charges a brokerage of 0.03% or Rs 20 per executed order, whichever is lower, irrespective of a number of shares or their prices.
